The road leaves Jammu on the highway towards Nagrota, then turns off for Katra through Domel. It is a good, busy road; pilgrim traffic peaks during Navratri and the summer holidays.
Most pilgrims register for the yatra at Katra before starting the trek. If you are on a direct train to Katra station, you will not need this transfer.
