Direct flights from Mumbai reach Srinagar in the late morning or afternoon, depending on the departure. The train is a very different trip: more than a day to Katra, then the new line to Srinagar. It is a lovely journey for travellers with time, and hard to justify on a short break.

Long-distance trains from Mumbai to Katra take well over a day. From Katra (or Jammu Tawi) the Vande Bharat on the new all-weather line reaches Srinagar in about three hours. Book both legs on IRCTC.
