Jaipur to Kashmir tour packages

From Jaipur, Kashmir is a switch from desert heat to snowline in a single day. Most Rajasthan travellers fly via Delhi and book 5 nights — enough to justify the connection and see all four valleys.

Jaipur to Kashmir is one of the biggest climate jumps you can make inside India. You leave a city that touches 45°C in May and land in a valley where the evenings still need a jacket — which is exactly why Rajasthan families plan their Kashmir holidays for the summer break.

Getting from Jaipur to Kashmir

By air, most itineraries connect through Delhi. With a morning departure from Jaipur you can be on a shikara on Dal Lake by late afternoon. Allow for the connection when you choose the package: the first day is mostly travel.

By train, Jaipur has direct services to Jammu Tawi on some days, and the new line then carries you on to Srinagar. It is an overnight journey plus a morning, so it suits families who would rather not change flights with children and luggage. From Katra (or Jammu Tawi) the Vande Bharat on the new all-weather line reaches Srinagar in about three hours. Book both legs on IRCTC.

By road it is around 1,100 km through Delhi, Punjab and Jammu. Some families from Jaipur drive it as a road trip with a stop in Amritsar on the way; as a way of simply getting to Kashmir it is too long.

How many nights from Jaipur

Because there is no quick direct flight, we recommend 5 nights rather than 4. The 5N/6D with Pahalgam stay and deluxe houseboat is a good fit — one night on a Dal Lake houseboat, two in Pahalgam, and Gulmarg and Sonamarg as day trips. For families, the Family Delight Kashmir Tour paces the days for children and grandparents. Honeymooners from Rajasthan usually choose Shades of Kashmir 5N/6D.

If you have come from the Amer and City Palace gardens, the Mughal Gardens of Srinagar — Nishat, Shalimar and Chashme Shahi — are an interesting comparison: the same Mughal garden tradition, laid out on mountain terraces above a lake instead of in the plains.

All prices are land-only from Srinagar. You book the flight or train from Jaipur, and we time the pickup and first day’s sightseeing around your arrival.

How to reach Kashmir from Jaipur

By air

Jaipur (JAI) → Srinagar (SXR), usually one connection via Delhi

Check for any direct seasonal service when you book; otherwise a Delhi connection gets you to Srinagar the same day on a morning departure.

By train

Jaipur → Jammu Tawi or Katra, then on to Srinagar by train

Direct trains link Jaipur with Jammu Tawi on some days of the week; on other days, change at Delhi. From Katra (or Jammu Tawi) the Vande Bharat on the new all-weather line reaches Srinagar in about three hours. Book both legs on IRCTC.

By road

Jaipur → Delhi → Srinagar via NH-44, roughly 1,100 km

A two-to-three day drive. Only worth it as a road trip in its own right — most Jaipur families who drive stop overnight in Jammu or Patnitop.

Best time to travel from Jaipur

April to June, when Jaipur is at its hottest and Kashmir is at its most comfortable — and again September to October for clear skies and autumn colour.

Tips for travellers from Jaipur

  • Rajasthan school holidays (mid-May to June) are Kashmir’s busiest weeks. Book hotels and houseboats six to eight weeks out for those dates.
  • Carry proper warm layers even in June — Gulmarg and Sonamarg are 2,600 m and above, and a desert wardrobe will not cover it.
  • Vegetarian food is easy to find in Srinagar and on every sightseeing route; tell us at booking and hotels are chosen accordingly.
  • If flying via Delhi, leave at least two hours for the connection. A missed connection costs a day of the itinerary.

Questions from Jaipur travellers

Kashmir is beautiful all year round. Spring (March–May) is ideal for tulip gardens and blossoming orchards. Summer (June–August) offers lush green valleys perfect for sightseeing. Autumn (September–November) brings stunning golden foliage. Winter (December–February) is magical for snowfall and skiing in Gulmarg.
