Kashmir luxury packages

Luxury in Kashmir means something slightly different from luxury elsewhere. The valley has a small number of genuinely excellent properties and a great many that describe themselves that way, so what matters is which specific hotel you are booked into — not the star rating on the page.

What we mean by it

• Named properties confirmed at the time of booking, never "5★ or similar".
• A luxury Dal Lake houseboat rather than a standard one — the difference on the water is larger than the equivalent gap between hotels.
• Gondola passes for both phases included in the price rather than charged on top, which at this level they should be.
• A private luxury vehicle throughout, and a night actually staying in Gulmarg rather than driving up for the day.

Staying on the mountain

The Luxury Gulmarg Retreat at ₹78,500 for two is the only itinerary we run that puts you in Gulmarg for two nights rather than passing through. That is the whole point of it: you are on the meadow at first light and still there when the day visitors have gone.

Couples are usually better served by the top of our honeymoon range — Treasure of Kashmir at ₹83,580 and The Essence of Kashmir at ₹98,490 per couple both run at premium properties throughout, with the romantic inclusions built in.

One thing no operator can promise at any price: Gondola Phase 2 closes at short notice in bad weather. We include the passes; the mountain still decides.
