The road goes west through Reasi town, crosses the Chenab and continues through Pouni to Ransoo, where vehicles stop. From there a paved path of about 3.5 km leads to the cave; ponies are available.
Most pilgrims do this as a same-day return from Katra, the day after Vaishno Devi. Start early to be back before dark.
