Peer Ki Gali is the pass at the top of the Mughal Road, the historic route the Mughal emperors took from Lahore to Kashmir over the Pir Panjal. The modern road links Shopian with Bufliaz and Poonch on the other side.
The pass takes its name from the shrine of the Sufi saint Sheikh Ahmad Karim, whose small shrine stands at the top. Snowfields linger through much of the summer, and on clear days the views stretch across the Pir Panjal.
Road status
The Mughal Road closes for winter, usually from December until spring, and opening depends on snow clearance. Even in summer, weather can close it briefly. Check with us before planning a trip.

Visiting Peer Ki Gali
The main routes to Gulmarg, Sonamarg (through the Z-Morh tunnel) and Pahalgam are kept open, but heavy snow can close any of them for a few hours or a day, and Srinagar flights are sometimes delayed by snow. Gurez, Zero Point, Sinthan Top and the Mughal Road are closed all winter. Keep a spare day.
Close to Srinagar: Doodhpathri, Yusmarg, Manasbal Lake and the Naranag temples. In the south: Kokernag, Verinag, Aharbal and Daksum. In the north, in summer only: Gurez, Bangus and the Lolab Valley.
