A high pass at about 3,750 m on the road from Kokernag to Kishtwar, with snow until early summer and wide views. A long day trip from Srinagar.

Sinthan Top is the pass on the Anantnag–Kishtwar road, linking the Kashmir valley to the Kishtwar side over the Pir Panjal. At around 3,750 m, it holds snow well into June, and in early summer the road runs between walls of snow.
On top there are open meadows, snowfields for sledging, and wide views in both directions. A few tea stalls operate in season. It has become a popular day trip for Kashmiris and second-time visitors looking for snow without Gulmarg’s crowds.
Road status
The road is closed by snow through winter, usually from around December until May. Opening dates vary year to year. Check with us before planning — and expect the last stretch to be rough even when open.

Visiting Sinthan Top
Close to Srinagar: Doodhpathri, Yusmarg, Manasbal Lake and the Naranag temples. In the south: Kokernag, Verinag, Aharbal and Daksum. In the north, in summer only: Gurez, Bangus and the Lolab Valley.
The main routes to Gulmarg, Sonamarg (through the Z-Morh tunnel) and Pahalgam are kept open, but heavy snow can close any of them for a few hours or a day, and Srinagar flights are sometimes delayed by snow. Gurez, Zero Point, Sinthan Top and the Mughal Road are closed all winter. Keep a spare day.
