Tulian Lake
A glacial lake at around 3,600 m above Pahalgam, frozen for much of the year and surrounded by peaks. A full-day trek for fit walkers, not a sightseeing stop.

Tulian Lake lies in a bowl of peaks above Pahalgam at roughly 3,600 m. For much of the year it is frozen or partly covered in ice, and even in midsummer chunks of ice float on the water.
The route historically climbed via Baisaran and then much higher through forest and open slopes. It is a long day — usually done as a full-day trek with ponies, or with a camp — and suits fit, acclimatised walkers.

Access to this route depends on the status of Baisaran, which has been restricted since April 2025. Check with us at the time of travel. Go only with a registered local guide.
