Bringi riverside
Clear water through pine and fir forest.
A thickly forested valley on the Bringi river above Kokernag, with a rest house, a few huts and very few visitors. The road continues up to Sinthan Top.
Daksum is a small clearing in deep conifer forest on the Bringi river, about 40 km beyond Anantnag via Kokernag. There is a government rest house, a few local huts and dhabas, and little else — which is exactly the appeal.
Walks along the river and into the forest, birdsong and silence. In summer, shepherds graze flocks on the slopes. It is one of the least crowded places in Kashmir that you can still reach on a decent road.
Stay a night in Kokernag or at Daksum itself, and drive on to Sinthan Top for snow in early summer. Facilities are basic; carry what you need.
Clear water through pine and fir forest.
Easy trails from the rest house.
May to October. Snow closes the road beyond in winter.
