About this trip
For people who have either been to Kashmir before or would rather not spend the week where everyone else is. Doodhpathri, Yusmarg and the Lolab Valley are all inside a day trip of Srinagar, all genuinely beautiful, and all carry a fraction of the traffic that Gulmarg and Pahalgam do in season.
This is a slower trip by design. Every night is in Srinagar, every day is a drive out and back, and the point is the valleys rather than the checklist. We would not recommend it as a first visit to Kashmir — the classic circuit is better for that — but as a second one it is considerably more rewarding.

Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1Arrival in Srinagar & local sightseeing
- Warm welcome on arrival at Srinagar Airport by our representative.
- Transfer to hotel and check-in.
- Local sightseeing of Srinagar — Mughal Gardens (Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh), Chashme Shahi and Shankaracharya Temple.
- Enjoy a 1 hour Shikara ride at the famous Dal Lake.
- Overnight stay in Srinagar.

Day 2Doodhpathri — the valley of milk
- Drive to Doodhpathri (42 km, approx. 1.5 hours) in Budgam district.
- High meadow, pine forest and the shallow milk-white streams the valley is named for.
- Free time to walk; there is no developed sightseeing circuit here and that is the appeal.
- Return to Srinagar in the evening.
Overnight in Srinagar
Day 3Yusmarg & Nilnag Lake
- Drive to Yusmarg (47 km, approx. 1.5 hours) through Charar-i-Sharief.
- Meadow walks along the Doodh Ganga, with Nilnag Lake a short trek further on.
- Pony rides available locally at fixed rates, paid directly.
- Return to Srinagar in the evening.

Day 4Lolab Valley & Kupwara
- A long day north to the Lolab Valley (approx. 110 km, 3 hours each way) — walnut forests, rice terraces and almost no visitors.
- Carry a government photo ID; this is a border district and checkpoints are routine.
- Return to Srinagar in the evening.

Day 5Day trip to Gulmarg
- After breakfast, drive to Gulmarg (50 km, approx. 2 hours) through Tangmarg.
- Free time at the meadow — the Gondola cable car, pony rides or a walk up towards Khilanmarg.
- Gondola tickets are booked separately and sell out in season; we advise booking ahead.
- Return to Srinagar in the evening.

Day 6Manasbal Lake & Naranag
- Drive to Manasbal Lake (30 km) — lotus in July and August, and the quietest water in the valley.
- Continue to Naranag for the 8th-century stone temple complex in the Sindh valley.
- Return to Srinagar in the evening.

Day 7Departure
- Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
- Transfer to Srinagar Airport for your onward flight.
- Note that the last flights out of Srinagar are early — plan the day accordingly.
