Buta Pathri (also Boota Pathri) is a village and meadow in the Nagin valley beyond Gulmarg, close to the Line of Control. Forested slopes, open meadows and streams make it one of the most beautiful areas around Gulmarg, and it has only recently opened to tourists.
Gurdwara Shri Boota Pathri Sahib marks the place where Guru Nanak is believed to have halted on his travels, and Sikh pilgrims visit throughout the season.
This is a border area. Visits need permission from the local authorities or army, usually arranged a day or more ahead, and every adult must carry original government photo ID. Foreign nationals face additional restrictions. Access can be suspended at short notice — we confirm the position before you travel.

Large numbers of tourists visit Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg every season, and the main tourist circuit is well policed. Conditions can still change at short notice, so before you book, check the latest travel updates from J&K Tourism and any advisory from your own government if you are travelling from abroad. We are based in Srinagar and on these roads every day. If a road closure, weather or a local restriction affects your route, we will tell you before you travel and adjust the itinerary.
