The stream
Cold, clear water through the pines.
A clear mountain stream flowing down from Alpather Lake through pine forest, about 10 km from Gulmarg. A quiet picnic spot away from the Gulmarg crowds.
Ningle Nallah is the stream that drains Alpather Lake, tumbling down through forest and meadows beyond Gulmarg. Along its banks there are flat grassy spots, boulders and pines — good for a long picnic.
Most visitors come by pony from Gulmarg, often as part of a longer ride. It is quieter than Gulmarg’s main bowl and appeals to travellers who want nature without a crowd.
Agree the pony route and rate before you set off. Facilities are minimal; carry water and food.
