The lake
Blue water in deep pine forest.

A small, deep-blue lake in pine forest about 4 km from Yusmarg, reached on foot or by pony. The best short walk from Yusmarg.
Nilnag — the blue spring — is a small lake ringed by pine and fir forest about 4 km from the Yusmarg meadow. The water is a deep blue-green and very still, reflecting the forest around it.
The trail from Yusmarg is gentle and shaded, about an hour each way on foot. Ponies are available from the meadow at union rates. It is one of the nicest short walks around Srinagar.
Make it part of a Yusmarg day trip. Combine with Sang-e-Safed if you have time, or stop at Charar-e-Sharief on the drive.
