Srinagar to Gulmarg Taxi

The road leaves Srinagar through the paddy fields of Budgam to Narbal, then climbs from Tangmarg through pine forest in a series of hairpins to the Gulmarg meadow. In good weather it is an easy drive of about an hour and a half.

Leave by 8 am if you plan to ride the Gondola — ticket queues build through the morning, and clouds often close in on the upper phase by afternoon. Gondola tickets, ponies and sledges are paid separately at Gulmarg.

In winter

From December to March, snow chains may be required beyond Tangmarg after fresh snowfall, and the police sometimes restrict vehicles without them. Our drivers carry chains; if the road is closed, we will tell you before you set out.
