From the highway at Anantnag the road turns east through Kokernag, with its spring gardens and trout farm, then climbs through dense forest to Daksum. Traffic is light beyond Kokernag.
A good day combines Achabal garden and Kokernag on the way up. Beyond Daksum the road continues to Sinthan Top when the pass is open in summer.
