The road runs north past Wular Lake to Bandipora, then climbs steeply to Razdan Pass before descending into the Kishanganga valley. The mountain section is narrow and slow; allow the whole day.

Razdan is snowbound for months; the road usually opens in late spring and closes again with the first heavy snow of winter. The round trip fare covers two days with the driver’s night allowance — most travellers stay at least two nights in Gurez.
