Surinsar is a small lake in the Shivalik hills east of Jammu, surrounded by forest. A temple stands on an island in the middle. It is quieter than Mansar and visited mainly by local families on weekends.
Legend links the two lakes as one, created when Arjuna’s arrow struck the earth. Surinsar and Mansar are protected together as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention.
